Secret British mining colonies are set up on the Moon to provide iron and other minerals.

It is extremely dangerous work with the air and water supplies a constant concern. Power is supplied by using solar energy to boil water and drive the generators during the two-week day period, at night they sit it out with minimum power generated using the expensive chemical water boilers, though at least they produce oxygen as a by-product.
